Parents and Mount Olive Boys:
Looking for adventure?
The Lutheran Pioneer program is open to boys in 1-8th grade and focuses on outdoor skills, recreational activities, and developing an appreciation for the wonders of God’s creation. Activities planned for the coming year include archery camp, camping trip, lock-in, winter retreat, laser tag, sledding, downhill skiing, Pinecar derby, and building model rockets.
Normal meeting nights are the first and third Tuesday of each month from 6 – 7:30pm. In addition to the regular meetings, we typically average one additional activity or outing per month. Dads are always encouraged to attend and participate in any of the events.
For grades 6 through 8, we have developed a more advanced program. In addition to all the other pioneer activities, this group will get a chance to participate in more adventurous outings including winter outdoor camping, high ropes course and a summer wilderness trip. This past summer, a group of 17 from Mount Olive paddled and portaged in the Boundary waters in Northern Minnesota. Past trips have included the Boundary Waters, Isle Royale and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
The first meeting, registration, and parent meeting is Tuesday, September 6th in the fellowship hall @ 6:30 pm. If you are attending church from 6-7 that evening, just come afterwards…there is a short orientation for parents that will start at 7. Annual Dues are $20 and some of the activities have a modest cost. If you have questions about the program, please contact Dan Voss at 954-6554 or email at email@example.com.
